‘Sentimental’
season in Tollywood
Mother
sentiment, sister sentiment and wife sentiment are opt repeated themes in
Telugu films. But with the onset of new directors and love stories, such
films have taken back seat for nearly two years.
Lack of ideas and stories seems to have made filmmakers resort to play
‘sentiment’ card again.
Since
a month theatres have been flooding with ‘sentimental’ films one after
another. Nagarjuna’s damp squib NENUNNANI made way to this sentimental
deluge.
Jagapathi
Babu starrer KUSHI KUSHIGA, a remake of Malayalam hit CHRONIC BACHELOR,
Srihari’s SHESHADRI NAYUDU and Arjun starrer PUTTINTIKI RA CHELLI, have
sister sentiment. DOSTH, again a remake of Malayalam hit NAMMAL and
Jagapathi Babu’s PEDABABU have ‘mother sentiment’. Thankfully
none of the films are doing great business.
