Putting brickbats that came after the release of his BOYS in the dustbin, ace filmmaker Shanker has moved onto his next project. He has started working on his next film with Vikram in the lead role. The film is tentatively titled ROBOT. 

It is the first commercial sci-fi film in Tamil. He had planned the movie with Kamal Hasan in the lead role long back. But as things didn't work out the way he planned, he's roped in the currant reigning star Vikram.

Produced by Oscar Ravichandran, it will go on floors from March. The interesting point of the project is that Shanker in all likely to go ahead with Harris Jayaraj as the music director instead of A R Rehman, who has been doing music for all Shanker's film since his debut GENTLEMAN. 

This news is not yet confirmed. With Rehman busy working for international projects, Shanker is planning to go sans Rehman. For Shanker the film is crucial, as he had never tasted the failure in Tamil except BOYS.
