Rajini describes Vikram as superstar

For the first time Rajinikanth had attended a cinema function after long gap of 5 years. He was the chief guest for the 100 days celebrations of SAAMI, which was held at Kamarajar Arangam, Chennai, on Wednesday (Sept 24, 2003). Speaking on the occasion, Rajinikanth praised Vikram and commended his performance in the film.

"I knew his career. After 10 long suffering years, he has arrived now. With SETHU he made his presence, with DHOOL he caught masses' attention, and with SAAMI, he has become real mass hero. 100 percent successful hero," Rajini praised. "I stopped attending public functions. 

But when Balachander called me off fortnight ago and invited me to attend his film's function, I couldn't say no. For he is not only my guru, he is everything for me. I owe my success to him. He is Bhisma and Dronacharya to me," he added.

Rajini gave away shields to artistes and technicians, who worked for SAAMY. Vikram said that he was fortunate to see his films run over 100 days in various centres. K Balachander attributed the success of this film, to his daughter Pushpa Kandasamy who produced the film under the banner of Kavitalya.

On the same stge, the audio cassette of THIRUMALAI, the next venture of Kavithalaya with Vijay in the leadrole was released by Rajnikanth. He handed over the first copy to Vikram. Among others who spoke on the occasion included actors Vijay, Surya, Vivek, Kota Sreenivasa Rao and Trisha.
