Kamal Haasan in Tamil MUNNABHAI

Tuesday, Apr 27 2004

Kamal HaasanFinally, Kamal Haasan has agreed to act in the remake version of Hindi super hit MUNNABHAI MBBS. After relentless pressure from producer Manohar Prasad of Prasad Labs, Kamal has okayed the project. His other comedy film, KRISHNALEELA, directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, is shelved for the moment.

When he was first offered the MUNNABHAI MBBS, he had declined saying he didn't find the idea of doing that film exciting. But he succumbed to the emotional pressure that was put on him to do MUNNABHAI by the producer Manohar Prasad who is son of his mentor late L V Prasad. Charan will direct the film. Jyothika is likely to play the role of Gracy Singh. Kamal is confident of Charan's skills. Charan is also the disciple of K Balachander. Charan's last film with Madhavan, JJ, was a disaster.

Meanwhile, Kamal's Hindi-Tamil film, KRISHNALEELA, will start only after August. The delay is because of the Bollywood heroine chosen for the film. She has dates problems to accomdate for the film now.

Kamal Haasan had also turned down the offer from Shah Rukh Khan for MAIN HOON NA. But he has no regrets saying not to it. He feels that he can't do roles which portray him as an anti-national.
