VeedhiWhat's it about!
A CNN journalist Seeta Mahalakshmi (Gopika) comes to Hyderabad to expose a gangster Shivanna. No one knows his identity. Balapam alias Surya (Sarwanand) and his friends are aimless youth who will do anything for money. Gopika motivates them to participate in her mission to find out the identity of Shivanna. The film is all about this Shivanna who just controls a single street in a huge city!

Analysis
One wonders how a prestigious production company like, Usha Kiran Movies, accept this absurd story. Being a media giant, they have given nod to this 'investigative journalist's story that is completely unrealistic and 'illogical' in nature.

While the story itself is a joke, the narration is totally amateurish. Also the climax is really ridiculous. Consider this: A CNN journalist comes to expose a criminal whose activity pertains to a single street in Hyderabad. And the channel 'live telecasts' it to the global audiences where his identity is exposed as if he were some Osama Bin Laden or Al Jahawari. Then Ramoji Rao's ETV2 telecasts it from CNN! What a joke!

In the climax, the reporter tells the criminal (everything is 'live' on CNN, remember) that she is none other than but his estranged daughter. He, the criminal, hearing this drops off his gun immediately and yearns for his daughter! (live telecast continues). All the while through the first half and second half the story is narrated in such way that something dreadful is happening in that said 'street' (Shivanna Veedhi) but in the end it becomes a farce.

Some jokes are okay. But there is nothing to rave about. Hero Sharwanand is wasted in the film. Gopika has done justice to the role. The rest of the gang is just okay. Vinod Kumar's special appearance is unnecessary. The villain's characterization lacks punch. Not a single song in the film (music by Anup) is worth mention. Director Dorairaj's handling of the film is amateurish. After his dumb debut (Dhum) he comes again with turkey.

Bottom-line
In one word, it's not Veedhi. Parama Sodi. The question that is still gnawing us is "How did Usha Kiran Movies approve this absurd storyline?
