Smitha Madhav, popularly known as Sita, is making her debut as heroine. Smitha, a well-known Kuchipudi danseuse, has acted as goddess Sita in Bala Ramayanam directed by Gunashekar. Her maiden film as heroine, Vengamamba, a devotional film, was launched today (November 24, 2006) at Annapoorna Studios.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and veteran south Indian actor Vikram are to share the screen in a big budget Tamil film to be produced by Manickam Narayanan and ABCL. Narayanan is the producer of the current Tamil hit "Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu" starring Kamal Haasan.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty was Friday injured in Idukki in an accident but reported for shooting after first aid. Mammootty was driving to the location of director Blessy's film "Palanku" (Pearl) in Idukki district when a bus from the wrong side of the road rammed into his Skoda Octavia.
