Multistarer films are very rare in Kannada. Tandega Takka maga staring Upendra and Ambarish, was in the multi-starrer league. A remake of Tamil hit Thevar Magan, this Kannada venture does not meet expectations. The royalty and vigor that we saw in Tamil (Thevarmagan) and Hindi (Virasat), is missing here. Upendra and Ambarish fail to reach the levels that Shivaji Ganeshan and Kamal (Thevarmagan) and Amrish Puri and Anil Kapoor (Virasat) reached

The story is 12 years old. A village, two brothers who fight to be the owners of the village. The villagers support the elder brother (Ambarish). This is because he loves the villagers, and his brother does not. The hero Satya (Upendra) is away from all this. After completing his education he comes to the village. He tries to end this fued, but in vain. He plans to return to the city. Life takes an unexpected turn. His father dies. And now he has to shoulder the responsibilities.

Ambarish and Upendra have performed as usual. Laila fills life into the film. Saakshi Shivanand's is a small role. Srinivasa Murthy, Komal Kumar and Ashish Vidyarthi have done justice to their roles. Camera by Krishna Kumar is good. BV Madhu's dialogues impress. Director Mahendra has tried to get Thevarmagan into Kannada. But has not been very successful in this endeavor.
