Mr Kokila

By Vani Nagendrappa

CAST               KAMALESH, SHALU, JAYANTI, RAJESH, AMRITA
MUSIC             IYER SELWAM
DIRECTION   YEMAAR
PRODUCER   YEMAAR

Mr Kokila, with all new faces to its credits, has the same old theme.

Driven by the noble cause of literacy and education, Kavita and her husband start a college. When Kavita loses her husband, her brother-in-law Dharmaraj (Rajesh) takes over the administration. He opens a club in front of the college. This sets a very bad example for the students. Kavita, in the best interest of the students' future, requests an ex-student of the college, Kokila (Amrita), who is now in a powerful position in Delhi to come to her rescue. Kokila, who is well versed in martial arts, fights Dharmaraj and takes over the administration of the college.

Apart from this, there is also a love story going on in the college. Sushma, daughter of Shobaraj (Dharmaraj's partner), falls in love with Dinesh (Kamalesh). Predictably, Shobaraj wants her to marry Dharmaraj's son. The students request Kokila to come to their rescue, but she refuses. The students of the college come together and decide to get these young lovers married. Again, Kokila comes to help the students when the gang attacks them.

This mediocre movie, though claimed to be a musical, has no memorable music. All the new faces still need a lot of maturity in acting. Photography is very good. The movie is shot in scenic locales in Delhi, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Mangalore, Manipal, Udupi - probably, the only thing it offers the audiences!
