Indian Cinema always mirrors the society, this time it portrays the funny character of Indian Politics, Laloo Prasad Yadav.

Stills from PLPY Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav is produced under the banner of Rhea Arts in association with Satyajeet Movies. PLPY is directed by Mahesh V. Manjrekar and revolves around the four leading protagonists - Padmashree (Masumeh Makhija), Laloo (Sunil Shetty), Prasad (Mahesh Manjrekar) and Yadav (Johny Lever). The title of the movie is comprised of four different names played by four different characters.

The reels open with Laloo who suffers from "shesightophrenia" - a psychological disorder. Due to this psychological illness, whenever he sees gorgeous lass, goes out of control instantly.

Padma his good looking girl friend is irritated with Laloo's eve teasing ways. One day, this cheating irritates Padma heavily and she gets angry with Laloo. This anger takes Padma to Cape Town in South Africa where she is to recover some jewels. Her father's partner had stolen these jewels long time ago. Interestingly, when she lands in Cape Town, she finds Laloo there who comes to receive her. Laloo appeals her to forgive him and he is forgiven in return of his appeal. To fulfill her mission, Laloo uses his efforts to help her. But due to his carefree behavior and nature, he messes up things miserably. Now he has to seek someone's help.

Finally he comes across a local hooligan called Johny (a club owner) and his sidekick named Yadav (Johny Lever). Since the jewels are in a bank's locker, they help Laloo and Padma to rob the bank. After they rob the bank and recover the stolen jewels, Padma starts double crossing the three and calls the cops who arrest Johny. Here Prasad (Mahesh Manjrekar) enters the scene as Johny's lawyer. Padma spreads her charms on him and plays love-games with him so that she can extract the information of jewels from him as to where Johny has hidden them. Laloo now begins to get jealous of Prasad while seeing the blooming love between the two but he does not know the reality that Padma is also playing love-games with Yadav. Stills from PLPY

Here the story takes new turns when a cat and mouse game starts off amongst all the leading characters. Manjrekar who once made two meaningful films Vaastav and Astitva and also directed the very watchable and very funny Govinda-flick Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai in this flick fails to give a meaningful one.

Manjrekar himself is seen playing a shrieking, stripping, farting lawyer who also dubs for numerous incidental characters, including a chauffeur to a man who dies later.

The dialogues though are tried hard to be funny, end up sounding like jokes...vulgar at certain scenes. Suniel Shetty making homosexual passes at Johny Lever is a little disgusting for a dignified actor. Gulshan Grover is pretty ok. Johny Lever is relegated to the backseat.

Musically, movie has a mix of a composer, a singer and a lyricist i.e. Anand Raj Anand, Sukhwinder Singh and Nitin Raikwar respectively.

Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav though meant to be a comedy, turns a sheer tragedy.
