Special Comment: A time pass film with a fresh appeal.
Anything more:A star is born - Hritik Roshan.
Though a cliched film, it has been presented in a fresh, mellifluous manner that doesn't make you groan. Dreamer Rohit (Hritik Roshan) wants to make it big as a singer and en route meets a rich girl Sonia (Amisha Patel) who has a villainous father, Anupam Kher. The duo obviously falls in love and later go on a cruise where, by accident, they are stranded on a lovely and lonely island. After a few romantic notes are exchanged, the angry father turns up as a deewaar between the two lovers. Our hero vows to make it big and the old man relents. Rohit and his friends publicize his singing talent via distribution of his cassettes and finally organize a show. The old man, in the meanwhile, is involved with drugs and orders the murder of the Commissioner of Police. The murder, committed by Anupam's accomplice Dalip Tahil, is witnessed by Rohit and so, he gets killed.
A heart-broken Sonia is packed off to New Zealand where she meets Rohit's look-alike, Raj. But wait! There's a difference. He is an upbeat version of Rohit and has a 'with it' attitude which is revealed at a dance in the disco. Raj falls in love with Sonia who is just not interested. He follows her to India and is spotted by the villains. Now, they are on the run. Eventually they bring the culprits to book after a grand stage show.
Kaho Na Pyar Hai has smooth-sailing direction by Rakesh Roshan and boasts of mind-blowing visuals of New Zealand. The music and songs don't hurt the ear or eye. Confident performances by Hritik and Amisha pep up the phillum! Hritik looks great and dances like a dream. He has done extremely well in acting, action and comedy. He has charisma and a strong screen presence. Amisha, on the other hand, is good but should keep a close watch on her makeup.
