Chal Mere Bhai

Comments: David needs to work on his scripts and pull up his socks...and FAST!!!
Once upon a time there were two brothers; rich mind you, and a beautiful girl. Oh, she has no choice but to be poor- and both fall in love with her. So what's new, you may ask? But Bollywood writers seem to be stuck with the fairy tale and refuse to come out of it. Chal Mere Bhai is one such film.
Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan are two brothers who can die for each other. Because Sanjay lost his girlfriend in an accident, his folks try really hard to get him married. In comes Karisma, a dumb girl who later turns smart, who gets a job in Dutt's office not because of her qualification but emotions. And before you say Chal Mere Bhai, one bhai - Salman is in love with her. So far so good. But the 'twist' comes when the family i.e.- granny Sushma Seth and father Dalip Tahil want Karisma as Sanju's wife. He agrees to get married to her. For his brother's sake, Salman lets go of his love and pretends to be a flirt. Our dumb heroine believes the same and reluctantly goes to Sanjay. But the other 'twist' comes when a drunk Salman tells all to his bada bhai, who happily gets the two lovebirds married.
David Dhawan really needs to pull up his socks and work hard on his scripts, which are getting thinner than wafer with each passing film. Biwi No 1 had a better story than Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge did. Now it seems Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge had a story at least, compared to Chal Mere Bhai. Salman Khan gets the better part of the cake and the lines, while a cool Sanjay Dutt isn't hassled about it. Karisma floats between over acting and 'not that bad' acting. But she looks good in the film. On the whole a passe affair.
