Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan, Bomman Irani, Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Sushant, SinghStill from LAKSHYA
Music: Shankar Ehsaan Loy
Script: Javed Akhtar
Direction: Farhan Akhtar

Three years ago Farhan Akhtar started a new wave in Hindi cinema with DIL CHAHTA HAI. He strikes again with something novel. LAKSHYA deals with Kargil. Nah its not a war film with all that Pak bashing dialogues

Karan Shergill (Hrithik) has no lakshya (aim) in life. He represents the youth of today who want an easygoing life. But Karan opts for something difficult on an impulse. He joins the army and quits within a week. Who wants that grueling life? Life was better otherwise. This is not received well by his dad (Bomman Irani) and girlfriend Romila (Preity). Romi and Karan part ways...

But destiny has a different plan and they meet again, but this time he is a lieutenant in the Indian army and she is a television journalist. She is here to cover the war for a television channel and he has one goal in life, which is to eliminate enemies and march towards victory.

A well scripted story by Javed Akhtar. Thankfully there are no anti-Pak bombastic dialogues. Farhan Akhtar is an amazing director. He has extracted excellent performance from his cast. Farhan has succeeded in giving a class film again. He has reached his lakshya shall we say? Cinematography is another plus point of this film. Music by Shanker-Ehsan-Loy is pleasant and gels well with the film. Prabhudeva's Choreography is first rate.

Performance wise LAKSHYA is Hrithik's film. His transition from a lazy dude to a responsible lieutenanStill from LAKSHYAt is simply superb. preity as TV journalist is good. Her hairdos are weird. She denied recently that her character was inspired by Barkha Dutt. But at times Preity does remind one of Barkha Dutt. One disappointment in LAKSHYA is Amitabh Bachchan. He does make some impression, but Hrithik outshines him heavily. Sushant Singh is wonderful as a Muslim soldier. Om Puri is okay, Amrish Puri has nothing much to do. Bomman Irani impresses with his excellent repertoire. Rest are good.

LAKSHYA is a great film, which will definitely influence the youth. It's a film for those who love good cinema (minus masala entertainment), excellent narration and amazing performances.
