Movie Review - JISM - Review

By: Jalapathy G.

Cast: Bipasha Basu, John Abraham, Gulshan Grover Still from JISM
Music: M. M. Kreem
Producers: Sujith Singh and Pooja Bhatt
Screenplay and Direction: Amit Saxena

Any film that doesn't have soul and no emotional bond among the characters, fails to attract the audience. JISM precisely fails in that area. Except Bipasha's bare legs, John Abraham's bare chested muscle exposure, and titillation, JISM has nothing much to offer. Even the so-called erotic scenes between Bipasha and John are not well shot and they are not hot that have made out to be. Some cheap tricks...

Inspired by European film, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, JISM is more like an amateur director's film than mainstream Hindi film. The film starts off with inane scene ends with more disappointing climax. Kabir Lal (played by model turned actor John Abraham) is an alcoholic. He practices law in Pondicherry. Bowled by Sonia's (Bipasha Basu) bare back and looks, he lusts for her. Sonia, married to a businessman (Gulshan Grover), too reciprocates 'love' to him. Together they plan to eliminate her hubby to lead a life of their own. But after the murder of her hubby, Kabir finds out that Sonia has set eyes only on money but not on him. In a predictable climax, he kills her too.

Still from JISM Bipasha with her stoned face is long way to go to learn acting skills. Debutant John Abraham sheds his shirt all the while as if he were on fashion ramp. He cannot even move his body easily leave alone acting skills. Though music by M. M. Kreem is good, there is no room for songs in the film. Cinematographer Fuwad Khan has failed to capture beautiful Pondicherry locations. Dialogues are heavy with poetry. No prizes if you count how many times 'Khaash' came in. Debutant director Amit Saxena's directorial skills are not praise worthy. If you are looking for 'erotica' this film has nothing, if you are looking for a good thriller, it isn't. Stay out of it.

Make your stars shine on you.
