Movie Review - BOLLYWOOD HOLLYWOOD - Review

Starring: Rahul Khanna, Lisa Ray, Dina Pathak, Moushimi Chatterjee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Akshaye Khanna (Special Appearance)
Music: Sandeep ChowtaStill from BOLLYWOOD HOLLYWOOD
Producer: David Hamilton
Director: Deepa Mehta

Its intended pun on the Indian culture. The narrative is character driven, no story. The central character Rahul (Rahul Khanna) is in love with a pop star. Rahul comes from a traditional Punjabi family headed by Daadi (Dina Phatak), who wont have the pop star for a grand daughter-in-law.

As fate would have it pop star dies in an accident, and the distraughted Rahul falls prey to his mom's (Moushmi Chaterjee) blackmail. Rahul employs a Spanish escort Sue (Lisa Ray), to pose as his Indian fiancé. The Spanish escort wins the heart of the family. Rahul and Sue fall in love. But then Sue has a past, which a man brought up with Indian values wont accept. But then will Rahul accept?

The film from scene one is hilarious. Especially the scene in which Rahul is asked to select his wife to be from the candidates short listed by his mom and granma.

The film is acceptable musically. There are two excellent songs in the film one is 'Dil Kabootar Khana' and the other ' Rang Rang'.

The film does have some flaws. The cinematography is not colourful enough. Technically the film is so so.

Performance wise Rahul Khanna looks awesome, and has given a excellent performance. Lisa Ray as Sue has done the role with lot of ease. Dina Phatak has given a good performance. The best of the lot is Moushmi Chaterjee and Kulbhushan Karbanda. Rest lend adequate support.

Overall the film is a good time pass.

Make your stars shine on you.
