Anil Devgan, cousin of actor Ajay Devgan is back with
Blackmail after four years of silence! He last directed
Raju Chacha in the year 2000. The film, which is a mix of Hollywood thrillers like
Phone Bhooth and
Ransom has nothing much to offer...

Life is a bed of roses for ACP Abhay Rathod (Suniel Shetty) and his family - Wife (Priyanka Chopra) and son Chirag (Parth Dave). Problem begins when Chotta (Mukesh Rishi) decides to avenge Abhay to settle some past dues and employs Shekhar (Ajay Devgan). Shekhar is a car-racer who uses his skills to help prisoners flee from jails. Shekhar himself wants to revenge Abhay as the ACP was indirectly responsible for the death of his wife (Dia Mirza).
Shekhar kidnaps Chirag and puts forward a peculiar demand to ACP Abhay. Situation takes a new turn once the cat and mouse race begins!
One of the biggest drawbacks about the film is that the plot is extremely predictable. One can immediately guess what is coming next. The emotional moments along with some excellent stunts form the highlight of the film.
What could have been a very interesting and compelling script was woven into a three hour-long story of kidnapping, revenge and redemption, wanting of a good screenplay.
Ajay Devgan as usual has done a good job. His voice choking with emotion combined with his expressive face manages to grip the attention of the public. However, the actor tends to overplay his role in certain scenes. Suniel Shetty is average. As for Priyanka Chopra and Diya Mirza, the two didn't have much opportunity to showcase their talent. Parth Dave and Mukesh Rishi is just about 'okay'.
The music by Himesh Reshammiya is an absolute disappointment. It seems like the songs have been just 'thrust' into the film simply because it is needed! Cinematography is quite good. From the looks of it, it doesn't look like the film has anything to hold it end at the box office. A very average film.
