Another visual treat is what Zinda is. After making good films like Kaante and Musafir director Sanjay Gupta has given the first hit of the year 2006. A film about a man searching for his bearings in a world that has forgotten him and his dreams.
Balajeet Roy a software engineer had everything he wanted in life. He and his wife Nisha led a life that would make anybody jealous. One day Nisha had some great news for Bala. She was pregnant. But after that day she never got to see her husband.
Bala was locked. Somebody locked him. He spent 14 years of his life in a dirty, dark room for no clear reason. But why?
There is a television, which tells Bala about the happenings of the outer world. And an unknown face serves him wantons everyday. Days run into weeks, weeks into months and months in years. Fourteen years run in a jiffy. After fourteen years of isolation one day he is freed. Now Bala wants answers to all those burning questions.
Why was he imprisoned in the first place and why was he released fourteen years later?
Sanjay Dutt has given his best performance. He rips the screen apart with his acting. John Abraham is not far behind; he is a revelation in this film. Lara has comparatively a short role but her performance is captivating. Rest provide adequate support.
Photography by Sanjay F Gupta is stylish. Vishal-Shekar and Sanjay Choudhary's music is first rate.
Overall Zinda is an excellent film told in a very exclusive method.
