Still from Teesri AankhYou have seen this subject of blue films racket earlier in Mukesh Bhatt’s ‘Kalyug’, which got noticed and was liked by the audiences and the critics respectively. Although Bhatts have touched this subject first, Harry Baweja adds more spices to his dish. Whether the movie is well-made or not, the point is touching this subject, which has been spreading in our society like a jungle fire, deserves distinction marks.

‘Teesri Aankh’ stars the big names of the film world from macho man Sunny Deol to gorgeous women of Bollywood – Amisha Patel and Neha Dhupia. It also features Ayub Khan, Murli Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari and Mukesh Rishi. Director Harry Baweja is well known for churning out stylishly made movies with the whopping dose of action like ‘Qayamat’. He also made flicks on sentimental subjects like ‘Main Aisa Hi Hoon’.

The former ran well at the box office but the later disappointed the cinegoers. Now he has emerged with a different subject of pornography laced with his usual formula of action. ‘Teesri Aankh’ tells the story of the people who stealthily makes pornographic films and pictures of women using today’s modern technology. It also pours light on the lives of the people who are victimized and fasten the belts to take revenge.

ACP Arjun Singh (Sunny Deol) is geared up to eliminate the pornographic racket in India operated from London by Sudama Pandey (Mukesh Rishi). He is engaged to Sapna (Neha Dhupia) who participates in a beauty contest but falls prey to this blue films racket. Pandey’s henchmen Dinesh (Mukesh Tiwari) and Dinesh (Murli Sharma) want to rule the racket defeating their boss – Sudama Pandey. For this, they ask Sapna to get the proof and if she succeeds they will get her free. In this process, she is killed. The only witness of this murder is Ammu (Amisha Patel) – a mute girl.

Now the racket is after her and she struggles to survive and save herself from them. While searching his fiancée, ACP Arjun Singh reaches to Ammu and here comes all the action, Sunny Deol is famous for. He moors the belts to take revenge and finishes off the racket. The script with a different theme (though it has already been narrated in ‘Kalyug’) is brilliant to make a movie on. But the stylish filmmaker could’ve done better with it since the subjects of this ilk have wider scope to experiment. Action sequences are not up to the mark for which Harry Baweja’s films are known.

They are not technically sound. Cinematography is average. The songs’ placement look awkward since the movie does not allow the tracks to come into the narrative. But if you listen to the album on the player, the numbers allure you and the most hummable one is Jazzy B’s song that features Amisha Patel with him. Amongst the performers, brawny man Sunny Deol impresses but not much. Amisha Patel looks gorgeous and enacts the character with aplomb. The actress is potentially superb. Neha Dhupia plays the role well. Aashish Choudhary and Aarti Chabria in brief roles are okay. The villains - Mukesh Rishi, Ayub Khan, Mukesh Tiwari and Murli Sharma do not have sparks to attract the moviegoers. In a nutshell, Teesri Aankh is an average voyage to be with. And at the box office, the business can hardly be seen.
