The Untiring Abhishek
Being the son of the living legend, Amitabh Bachchan and actress Jaya Bachchan, life perhaps was difficult for Abhishek in terms of meeting expectations of the audience and the film industry itself. Initially when Abhishek made his debut in
Refugee, people expected to see the erstwhile Amitabh, but they were in for a rude shock. Abhishek was nowhere close. Abhi as he is fondly called began his early years of education at the Bombay Scottish School, continued at Jamnabhai and finished studying at Aiglon School in Switzerland. He further went on to do his Business studies in United States, when the film bug bit him and he made headway back home. He made his debut opposite Kareena Kapoor (her first film as well) in
Refugee in 2000. It bombed at the box office. It has been a relentless struggle for him since. It is however sad that he has not had a single hit.
Dhoom however did well at the box office, though not a major hit. There is Ram Gopal Verma's
Naach to look forward to. Here he plays the role of an aspiring actor. There is also Rajkumar Santoshi's
Zakhm in which for the first time father and son will be working together.
