Since the season is on for the debutantes in industry these days, a number of newcomers have been making their debut. Following this ongoing tradition, director Tanveer Khan uses Madhoshi as his debut vehicle.
An Anil Sharma production, Madhoshi features a hot-well in news pair of John Abraham and Bipasha Basu together with Tum Bin fame - Priyanshu Chatterjee who has recently been seen in a controversial movie, JULIE.
Belonging to a happy and prosperous family, Anu (Bipasha Basu) - a student of fine arts, faced a tragedy when her elder sister and brother-in-law were killed in a terrorists' attack on World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001. This tragedy shook her badly and as a result she had a mental setback.
Now Anu's parents seek a match for her so that she could overcome this problem. Finally, she gets engaged to a renowned Ad-Filmmaker, Arpit Oberoi (Priyanshu Chatterjee) who later leaves for the U.S to make an international ad film. Aman (John Abraham), who works for an anti-terrorist organization, enters into the scene. Anu meets him and soon friendship develops between them. Upon knowing Aman's purpose in life, she loses her heart to him. When the time for marriage approaches, Anu straightly refuses to tie the knot with Arpit and cuts her wrists in protest. She survives but the test reports show that she suffers from schizophrenia.
Here an interesting package oozes out for the moviegoers that when and how will Anu overcome this dangerous disease? Also the most interesting element is that whether she will accept Arpit's hand or go into Aman's arms? To know the answers of these questions, wait for the release.
Famous singer-composer Roop Kumar Rathod has scored music for the film whereas Shakeel Azmi has rendered his services for lyrics.
The film is scheduled to release on September 24, 2004
