Cops subject is very much "IN" these days. Look at the recently released flicks, KHAKEE, AB TAK 56, BARDAASHT and many others, all carry this formulaic theme altogether. And to a greater extent, this formula has become popular with Hindi cinema every passing day. Bollywood filmmakers have fastened their belts to make movies using cops as the central characters. Following this current recipe of success, Puneet Issar directs an action thriller, GARV - PRIDE AND HONOUR, which focuses on the lives of Mumbai Police Force. Puneet Issar makes his directorial debut with this enterprise. Puneet, a name that is already famous for the character of Duryadhan in B.R.Chopra's much-liked tele-series, "Mahabharat".

Laced with the huge starcast, Garv brings back the two brothers, Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan for the third time on the silver canvas of big screen after PYAR KIYA TO DRANA KYA and HELLO BROTHER. Sizzling Shilpa Shetty, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal and Mohan Joshi take the leading roles to fill the rest of the stars' list. A Prem Krishan and Sunil Mehta's production, the movie has music by Sajid-Wajid (main composers) and Anu Malik (a guest musician for one song).

The script revolves around the circumstances of the Mumbai Police Force. Samar Singh (Amrish Puri), Arjun Ranawat (Salman Khan) and Hyder Ali (Arbaaz Khan) play cops. These officers also make a "Special Task Force Team" to eliminate the corruption and crime from the city. This task force creates its own measures to finish off the evils activities without caring about the prescribed line of law.

Still from GARV - PRIDE AND HONOUR Guided by Samar Singh, Arjun and Hyder vow to fight against the underworld and thus eliminate many "wanted" criminals. This brings the underworld biggies a panic-like situation and as a result they set their hearts on eradicating these cops, who are all set to erase them. Consequently, Arjun's mother (Farida Jalal) and sister (Akanksha) get caught in their target. Angrily, Arjun takes the law in hand to take revenge from them. Rest is an action-packed drama.

Shilpa Shetty's role has been essayed merely as Arjun's love interest. Playing villains, Anupam Kher, Mukesh Rishi, Anant Jogue and Mohan Joshi join the venture.

Music has already hit the market but strictly falls under average bracket. "Hum Tumko Nighahon Mein" and "Dum Mast Mast" hold some attention, the rest of the album is complete let-down. The duo of Sajid-Wajid has scored the music for the soundtrack together with Anu Malik who also showcases his skills as a guest composer for one song, "Marhaba". Jalees Sherwani has rendered the lyrics for the songs. GARV - PRIDE AND HONOUR is scheduled to release in this ongoing month of June 2004.
