After Taarzan - The Wonder Car, director-duo Abbas-Mustan returns with the latest offering, Aitraaz under the banner of the renowned film production company Mukta Arts Pvt Ltd, which is run by none other than the showman Subash Ghai. Abbass-Mustan's hot favourite Akshay Kumar plays the main lead as usual opposite the two gorgeous lasses of silver screen Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka Chopra for the very first time in her short film career is being cast in a major role and also it is the first time for her that she is playing a negative character in a movie. The film's tagline, "In the world of women, play by their rules or..." clearly reveals that the flick has a woman baddie in pivotal role. This villainous character has been knitted deftly and in a much innovative manner also.
Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) is the accused. He is an enthusiastic-significant player in the telecom industry and has the secret skills, which always make him the man of the moment and the man of the future respectively. But unfortunately, now his future is black altogether. The law says, "A man is innocent until proved guilty". But Raj's fate changes this quotation to "a man is guilty until proved innocent".
Being an epitome of a dream companion, Priya (Kareena Kapoor) happens to be the biggest support for Raj with her love. She fights with the deceitful shadow that threatens to put Raj's honor at stake. Priya now has a mission to accomplish being a partner of Raj in his war.
Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) is a charming and focused complainant. Her philosophy is that the goals are meant to be achieved at any cost. She utterly ceases Raj's world. She knows one thing that nothing can come in between her wants and desires.
Ram Choitrani (Anu Kapoor) is a careful and convincing defense lawyer. He confidently faces the prosecution lawyer Mr. Patel in the courtroom.
Mr. Patel (Paresh Rawal) is a cunning prosecution lawyer. He is famous to create a win-win situation for his clients. Now he has a controversial case to fight for. Will he succeed in it as usual or will the failure be his guest?
Ranjit Roy (Amrish Puri) is Raj Malhotra's boss. He is a pawn in Sonia's hands.
In the courtroom, a shocked Raj Malhotra is standing who is accused of a heinous crime. Some time back, he had the world at his feet but today he is accused of a shocking crime. It all happened when he had met Sonia. Raj was aware that she had her ways to live. But one ill-fated day, things did not go her way and Raj was accused of a crime. Now Raj's honor is at stake. In a man's world, he is helpless. Now he is at the mercy of a woman, as the film catch line goes, "Sometime in a man's world, a woman makes rules".
Melody-king Himesh Reshammiya scores the music whilst Sameer picks up the pen to write lyrics. Shyam Geol and Shiraz Ahmed are the men behind the story and screenplay.
The movie will release sometime in November 2004.
