A Dharmendra's production under his film company called "Vijayta Films", Socha Na Tha arranges a grand launch for his nephew, Abhay Deol who is also a cousin of Sunny and Bobby Deol. Abhay Deol, a new Deol in industry stars opposite gorgeous-innocent beauty, Ayesha Takia who earlier has made appearances in Tarzan - The Wonder Car and Dil Maange More in pivotal roles. The film has not been promoted well earlier even after its music release. Currently it's being promoted hugely on satellite channels helping the viewers notice to this newcomer Deol in Socha Na Tha. Bobby Deol's carbon copy Abhay Deol looks nice in the promos and it seems he can make his mark in the world of cinema. How far does he fit to the expectations, it will reveal upon the release?

Debutante Imtiaz Ali directs this enterprise, which has musical score by Sandesh Shandilya who soothed the souls in last year's classy movie, Chameli. Irshad Kamil together with Subrat Sinha pick up the pen to write the lyrics for this fare.

Everyone at Viren's (Abhay Deol) home likes him to get married with Aditi (Ayesha Takia) since everything goes fine with this relationship from caste, family, status and stars but he seems not to be interested in marrying Aditi, as he loves a Catholic girl, "Karen". With her, he has been going through for last three years. He tells the truth to Aditi in private and lets her know also that he wants to tie the nuptial knot with Karen. Both decide that Viren will refuse this proposal of getting married to Aditi. But this thing leads to a furor in two families and there emerges an ego tiff between them leaving them fights severely. Amidst all, Viren proposes Karen for which she happily says "yes". He approaches to her parents who give him a positive response as well but his own parents will never ever agree on this relationship of their son and Karen.

In this process, he continues meeting Aditi. Both like to meet each other again and again. In these meetings of them, there is no snobbery and show off type of things attached.... they are straight to each other saying whatever in mind to each other, behaving as they are actually. Some dramatic situations help Viren realise that he has fallen in love with Aditi.

The story takes another dramatic turn when Viren's family agrees to accept Karen as their daughter in law. Now Viren is caught in his own designed plan...

What will happen now? Will he have to marry Karen or will he be able to get his true love "Aditi"? For the answers, the cinegoers will have to wait for the release.

Socha Na Tha also features Ayesha Jhulka, Suresh Oberoi and Apoorva Jha. The movie will ignite the screens on 18th of Feb 2005.
