Kabeer Kaushik, the Ad Filmmaker is making his debut as a director with his first 'unconventional' creation Sehar The star cast includes Arshad Warsi as SSP Ajay Singh, Mahima Choudhary as Anamika Kant a lecturer in the University, Sushant Singh as Gajraj Singh - the Mafia Don, Pankaj Kapur as Bhole Shankar Tiwari a Reader in the University specialized in IT.

Sehar in Urdu means the morning. The film, inspired by real life incidents, delineates the journey of a newly appointed 31-year old SSP of Lucknow, instrumental in bringing together a group of committed police officers under the aegis of Special Task Force. The force, bequeathed with a single agenda, succeeds in challenging the might of organized crime in Uttar Pradesh. And in the process, what unfolds is the ever-changing dynamics of Uttar Pradesh' siyaasat:  railway contracts, politician-Mafia-police-builder nexus, Pro-activism of criminal gangs, sophisticated yet rigid red-tape, ISI involvement and criminalization of University students. In a way, nothing was new. The only thing different was the approach. And at the end that made the difference.

Concept

The task force, bequeathed with a single agenda, succeeds in challenging the might of organized crime in Uttar Pradesh. In the process, what unfolds is the ever- changing dynamics of the Uttar Pradesh Siyasat: railway contracts, politician- mafia- police- builder nexus, ISI involvement and the criminalization of University students. What differentiates Sehar from the innumerable movies on the same topic is the treatment given by the Director Kabeer Kaushik & the Cameraman Fuwad Khan.

Special Aspect

The movie talks about organized crime in Uttar Pradesh and how the special task force was successful in eliminating it through electronic surveillance. The film delineates upon the helplessness of the Special Task Force when the mafia gets a new device- the Mobile Phones!! The task force lacked in this very technological expertise, which had become a tool for the underworld. In its zeal to end organised crime from U.P., Sehar unravels how the Special Task Force becomes acquainted with the Telecom Revolution and the Mobile Technology. The film ends with the hope for a better society.
