Sharmila Tagore honoured with B V Karanth Award
Noted film actress, Sharmila Tagore was honoured with the B V Karanth Arts Award, instituted by Iftekhar Drama Academy in Bhopal. Accepting the award from the Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister, Ajay Singh, the actress lavished praise on Bhopal for its beauty.
She said the city had made a name for itself through the work of actors and actresses -- both on stage and in films. Sharmila said she was interested in both sports and arts as they helped in forging brotherhood. The award comprised a shield and a shriphal.
Meanwhile, Sharmila had a surprise guest as actor-turned-politician Sunil Dutt, with whom she had acted in a few films, visited her at her residence 'Flag House' and exchanged pleasantries. Dutt, a Congress MP, was in the city in connection with a programme on communal harmony.
