A film financier has approached the civil court seeking to restrain film producer Boney Kapoor from granting telecast or release rights of film `No Entry', a film produced by Kapoor, pleading breach of contract.
The film is going to be telecast by Sahara channel on March 26, according to the complainant Prem Kumar Agarwal, who has argued that Boney Kapoor and his wife, actress Sridevi cannot assign the film's telecast rights without paying off the money they owe to him. The case has been adjourned till 24th March as Kapoor's counsel is yet to file a reply.
According to the Agarwal, he had extended loans to Boney Kapoor and Sridevi from time to time as a finance for films, and they had agreed by an agreement in 2004 that he would be paid a sum of Rs 1 crore 88 lakh before their film `No Entry' was released.
Later, Agarwal stated, Kapoor assured him that the film's telecast rights had been assigned to Zee Telefilms, and Zee would pay him off directly. But now the film is being released by Sahara channel in breach of Kapoor's assurance, Agarwal has stated, urging the court to restrain Sahara from telecasting the film and the Kapoors from assigning telecast rights of the film to any channel before paying off the debt.
