Amitabh Bachchan, who underwent a major surgery for inflammation and perforation of small and large intestines at Leelavati Hospital here yesterday, would be out of action at least for a month, hospital sources said today.
"It was a major operation, and Bachchan would be in the hospital for next 8-10 days, after which he would be advised complete bed-rest for at least a fortnight," the sources added.
Dr J Agarwal, Gastrologist, who was part of the surgery team, told reporters that the 63-year-old superstar "fully co-operated" with the doctors.
His condition is now stable, he said.
The surgeons also removed some of the old tissues which were the remnants of the 1982 injury, that the actor had sustained during the shooting of film 'Coolie', sources said.
Bachchan's actor son Abhishek, who was with his father, left the hospital early this morning.
