Abhishek-Soha in Bengali film
Call it coincidence or call it what you will. Just when Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore are working together in Mahesh Manjrekar’s bilingual VIRUDDH/VERSUS their respective children, Abhishek and Soha Ali Khan are set to co-star in Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film.
Ghosh states that his film is a hypnotically passionate story. He cast Abhishek because he wanted the actor who had the brooding intensity, bronzed appeal, penetrating eyes and silent smoldering personality of Mithun Chakraborty in Mrinal Sen’s MRIGAYA. Abhishek plays a Bihari character (again after YUVA) in the film. Although he has played a small role in another Bengali film, this would be his first full-fledged sortie into regional cinema and at offbeat filmmaking. Ghosh is confident Abhishek and Soha would make magic together on screen. The film is scheduled for a 20-day shoot in September.
