Upset over smooching photographs appearing in a tabloid, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor on December 15, 2004 slapped legal notices on "Mid-Day" demanding an unconditional apology or else face a defamation suit.
The newspaper carried photographs of the two stars in kissing scenes claiming that they were clicked at a party in "Rain" restaurant in Mumbai recently.
While the actors denied their photographs, the Editor of Mid-Day, Aakar Patel, stood by the newspaper's claim that they were indeed Shahid and Kareena.
Kareena slapped a notice on the newspaper asking an apology and claiming Rs 20 crore damages for loss of reputation. Kapoor has also sent a notice although he has not specified the amount of damages.
Speaking to a news channel, Kareena said she belonged to the respectable Raj Kapoor's family and she could never have done this in public.
"The pictures are false and baseless and not ours, she said adding that it had caused great deal of shock and embarrassment to her. "I can never do such a thing in a restaurant," the actress said in her appearance on television.
If such a thing could happen to her it could also happen to anyone else in the society, she said and totally denied that she and Shahid had posed in such scenes in real life.
