Sonu Sisupal's film in trouble
A new controversy is brewing up regarding a total ban imposed on the film Kalachakram by the regional censor board in Kerala. The findings of the board say that the film is antinational and amounts to treason!
The theme of the film revolves around the German fascist ruler of the last century Adolph Hitler. The film narrates a fictitious situation in which German scientists crated a clone of Hitler from his cells just before he committed suicide because of his defeat. The clone in the infant stage was safely transported to India by a General in the Indian National Army (INA) wing in Germany. The name of this general was Nanaji. With the help of neo-nazi forces in the country Nanaji built a business empire with sole intention of fulfilling the dreams of Adolph Hitler. His aim is to create a new world order with pure Aryan blood! Clone Hitler relies entirely on cyber tech. The story is set in the year 2005. A God woman of high following is depicted as the agent of Mossad, the secret agency of Israel. The brain behind the execution of the whole neo-nazi project is a computer Guru called Ganapati Swamy. The climax to the story is no different from history. The clone commits suicide! Kudos to Indian Defense wing, which successfully aborts the neo-nazi project.
The censor board argues that the film places Hitler in a high pedestal as a model and it propagates antinational sentiments. On the contrary, director Sonu Sisupal refutes all contentions of the board. A show was arranged in Chennai for the journalists and invited audience. He says he has never portrayed Hitler as a model human being. Both Hitler and Nanaji are portrayed as villains in the film. Further Indian defense wing aborts the nazi schemes.
Sonu Sisupal is Priyadarshan's associate director. He did work with him in almost one dozen films and this is his first independent venture. A new actor Shiju is cast as Hitler in this film. Nanaji is portrayed by Devan who regularly gets this kind of negative roles in all the south Indian language films.Siddique is the Indian defense wing officer in Kalachakram. Though the director has been asked to apply for a certificate with a revised version of the film Sonu Sisupal is not willing to do that .On the contrary he is approaching the review committee. While the controversy prevails, one wonders why a new director like Sonu Sisupal did select such a subject at all outside his socio-cultural experience. Of course he has all the rights and freedom, but one can't help wondering.
