Malayalam film industry had almost written him off. But one hit changed everything. With the success of CHRONIC BACHELOR Mammootty is back with a bang. His not so happening career has stabilized again. Not only is he doing Malayalam films but is also doing a couple of films in Tamil.

Presently he is acting in a Tamil film opposite Nandita Das. The film has been titled as VISHWA THULASI and is being directed Sumathi Ram. This happens to be her debut directorial venture.

Mammooty plays the role of a Zamindar who falls in love with a Tamilian girl in his teenage days. The lovers meet twenty years later. The film takes you way back to the 40's and the 60's. Major part of the shooting is been completed in Varikkasseri Mana in Ottapalam near Palakkad in Kerala.
