Though not uncommon it is sheer bad luck for a director like Ranjith to wait to get his new film released. Distribution of Nandanam is not yet cleared for want of funds. Letters to editors from readers suggest the distributor to move out of the agreement and give it to somebody else! Anyhow one is not expecting Nandanam to come out during this Onam festival.

Onam season will see release of five films. Thandavam a Mohanlal film directed by Shaji Kailas and written by S Sureshkumar is first in the list.

It will be released in a minimum of 30 theaters. The music cassette people Johni Sagarika are producing Thandavam. This film takes back the Mohanlal fans to a world high drama charged with super star action, dialogue, songs and dance.

Mammootty has no films this Onam. But he appears in a brief role in Fazil film Kaiyethum Doorathu. It has Shanu (Fazil's son) and Nikita a model from Mumbai. It is a love story in the unique Fazil style.

Kamal is trying to create a nostalgic past in his Gramophone with music and love as theme. It is expected to attract masses since Kamal has chosen Dileep to present the main role. Dileep is the current crowd puller with his rural character. Meera Jasmine and Navya Nair, Murali, and Revathi are the other main artists in Gramophone.

Rajasenan presents Prithviraj in his Nakshtrakkannulla Rajakumaran and A K Sajan after a long time is releasing his Violence.
