Meera Jasmine
Meera Jasmine has won the most prestigious award of Malayalam cinema, the Best Actress award from the Kerala State Government for the film PADOM ONNU ORU VILAPAM. When the award was announced Meera was shooting in Hyderabad for the film PARTHIPAN KANAVU.

Meera is visibly overjoyed with this news. She says that she still can't believe and all this is nothing but god's grace.
She had never expected this award. Earlier she was upset that her performance in this film was not even considered by the National Award Committee.

In PADAM ONNU ORU VILAPAM she played the role of Shaheena a Muslim character. A lot of people criticized her for signing this film. Meera had put in a lot of effort for this film. Meera says that while shooting this film a young girl was forced to marry when she was minor. This girl committed suicide and Meera had been to the hospital to see her dead body. This incident helped her to make her role much close to reality.
