Nobody thought Vinayan would make a film with Mohanlal in the lead. If we need an explanation here we have one. Years back Vinayan made his first film with a new comer named Madanlal. Madanlal was a look alike of super star Mohanlal. The names sounded similar as well. Madanlal was shown as a barber in some scenes.

Obviously Mohanlal fans were offended. Madanlal never did appear on screen after that. Vinayan also had a share of the criticism for making such a film. We have no idea if he had a design to tarnish Mohanlal's image. However everybody thought it was in bad taste.

Vinayan has a chance to erase the old image now. He directs a film with Mohanlal, which is produced by Mani of Sunitha productions. It is their 50th film. The heroine is to be decided soon.

Ranjith shelves MohanLal film

Ranjith put Mohanlal film on hold and is immediately doing a low budget film. Mohanlal was interested in Ranjith film MARAM PEYYUMPOL but some hitch has delayed this project. It was to be produced by actor Augustine. Mohanlal is presently doing the K Madhu film and next he will join the Thulasidas film.

When Lohita Das announces a film one can expect a literary touch even in it. He does not give a hint of the story on the contrary it is an abstract idea that he gives us.

The first P R copy of KASTHURIMAN, his new film, which begins shooting in TRICHUR, soon, informs us that we humans are like Kasturiman -Antelopes.

Antelopes are always after the deer musk, so are we humans ever in search of love. We do not identify love that comes our way, or the love offered to us. Nor will we give it others. Still we are yearning for love.

Lohita Das the scriptwriter and director of films with literary quality is attempting this idea of love in KASTURIMAN. Lohita Das says love is that touches and wakes up one's soul. It is the unification of two entities. Lohita Das extracts the essence of this idea and injects it into a story of a young man and girl.

He sets the illusory city life and simple rustic life as background for the film. Kunchako boban and Meera Jasmine are in the lead. They are Sajan Joseph and Priyamvada in this story. The other actors are Cochin haneefa, Salim kumar, Sreehari and new artists.

Jagathy Sreekumar Gets a lead role in KALA VARKEY

Varkey earns his daily bread by rendering services of his mating bull. Hence he is known as KALAVARKEY. In Chelakkara village everybody with a cow approaches Varkey.

Varkey has a four-member family. His wife and three daughters look after the bull very well. And as fate will have it Varkey fell ill and a young man named Jose takes over. This over turns the whole life of Varkey.

Jagathy Sreekumar acts as KALAVARKEY AND Vijayaraghavan takes up the role of Jose. Pallavi from Tamil is cast as Annamma, Varkey's wife. Suvarna Mathew, Meenakshi, and Manasi present Alice, Sophiya, and Lissy the three daughters of Varkey. B S Miny has written the story and the film is directed by Rajesh Narayanan. The shooting commences this week in Trivandrum

Exit Satyan Anthikad and enters Thulasidas. Coimbatore becomes the location for a second Malayalam film in four weeks time. Satyan Anthikad finished his shooting with Jayaram and Soundarya in Coimbatore and Thulasi das moved in for the location test in this second major city in TN. Thulasidas has scheduled 30 days of shooting of his film BRAMHACHARI with Mohanlal in the lead.

Another film, which has Coimbatore as its location, is CHRONIC BACHELOR with Mammootty in the main role. Siddique who earlier had cast Mammootty in HITLER is directing this film. Siddique has scheduled his shooting from December 15.

Lal Jose at his zenith of film career with MEESAMADHAVAN, which completed 100 days, is ready with his next script. He has selected picturesque Vagamon in high ranges valley in Kottayam district as his location and he has named the film PATTALAM.

Lal Jose who did a film with Mammootty earlier- ORU MARAVATHUR KANAVU- has selected him for the lead role in this semi humor film. PATTALAM is a story of a village burnt in a communal conflict where a company of armed force came to maintain peace. Even after the clash is contained the company stays back in the village and an entirely different behavior is seen in the village.

Lal Jose has identified the narrative style to entertain people and his PATTALAM will be a fast moving rustic film. Subair and Sudheesh who produced MEESAMADHAVAN produce this. Lal Jose and Regi have written the script.

Prithviraj in Viji Thampi film

Pritvi raj the hero of NAKSHTRAKKANNULLA RAJAKUMARAN and VIOLENCE has been chosen to play the lead role in Viji thampi film produced by Ever shine pictures. The shooting starts last week of October.

A busy schedule awaits Biju Menon who is getting ready for his marriage with Samyuktha Varma on November 21. He will have to finish shooting a film before the wedding. He is selected to play the lead role with Kalabhavan Mani and Navya Nair in KISAN directed by Sibi Malyil.

Manoj K Jayan is paired with Bhanupriya in SAAKSHI directed by Biju C kannan. It is a long time the viewers have seen a Manoj K Jayan film.

Mukesh in MIDDLE EAST MAHADEVAN

MIDDLE EAST MAHADEVAN is a project launched in Dubai. The shooting of this film takes entirely in Dubai. It begins in the last week of October. It has Balachandra Menon, Vijayakumar, Vindya, Bindu panikar, in its cast. Sandya Mohan directs this film.
