Savitriyude Aranjanam
One more story written by novelist M Mukundan is coming to silver screen. Savitriyude Aranjanam a rustic story takes Malayalam cinema back to literature for its resources. It tells the story of a girl and her golden girdle. One can say that it was tied to the girl's life itself rather than to her waist. It has been there around her waist since childhood. It was lost and found. It was modified when she became a young buxom woman. She wanted the girdle with her forever. It was her life. When once she lost the girdle her mother searched all over the village. Her father did not even finish his lunch when he heard about it. He ran to the village pond where Savitri had her morning bath. Savitri was overjoyed when her father retrieved it from the pond. It was so dear that she did not remove the girdle even though it cut into her flesh when she became plump. And just think of her grief when her husband snatched it from her beautiful waistline one night...and the shame she was subjected to when the whole village comes to know about the incident! The incident shatters the family. Sure this story has to be read rather than be watched in a film to enjoy its literary quality. Well let us hope the essence comes out dexterously and takes up a fine cinematic form. Mohan Kupleri directs this film and he is introducing Aswathi as grown up Savitri. Govardhan and P F Mathews have written the script. Innocent takes up an important character that of Ramunni. Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Mamukkoya, Agastin, Indrans, Salim Kumar, Narayanankutty, Harisree Asokan are all in the cast. All the artists are comedians and it makes this film different. The shooting of the film is progressing in Shornur.
