KAMAL- Sticks to youngsters


Still from NAMMAL The chances of a Kamal film becoming a hit is not even fifty fifty though his films get enthusiastic approval from critics. After 'NIRAM', Kamal rarely had a box office hit. But he came out with good subjects in 'MADHURANOMBARAKKATTU' and 'GRAMOPHONE'. Now that his 'NAMMAL' a campus story has stayed 60 days and heading for diamond jubilee in movie halls across the state he is flooded with directorial offers. The popularity of the film is seen in the song 'Raakshasi Raakshasi' which is shown on channels several times a day.

Though he is not taking up the offers he is neither wasting time. He has started working on his new film, which will go to location in March first week in Pondichery. The pooja and switch on, of the film yet to be named took place in Trichur. And this time he plans to stick on to the newly found formula of casting the new comers to woo the younger generation of viewers.

Still from NAMMAL Aptly he has cast Prithviraj, Kunchako Boban, Jayasoorya, Meera Jasmine, Bhavana and Vijeesh in his film. He is going to cash in on the youngsters wave. The pooja went well. It recorded the jubilant mood of the industry.

Iqbal Kuttippuramand and Kamal write script jointly. Iqbal has already written the story for an earlier Kamal film. The film will be completed in one schedule and ready for release in July.

Mean while his 'GRAMOPHONE' is still waiting for release. The controversy between the distributors and exhibitors regarding the share of revenue from theaters is not resolved. A number of films are waiting in cans.
