Mammootty and Mohanlal are not to be written off that soon. Both the actors are getting new assignments despite their flops in the recent past as a result of the gate crashing of new generation actors. While Mohanlal is signed to act in BALETTAN by V M Vinu, Mammootty is the main actor in a just announced Ranjith film. Ranjith writes and directs this film, which is being produced by Ambalakara films. An Ambalakara film was the one produced the super hit 'VALLYEETTAN' a Shaji Kailas - Ranjith - Mammootty - Shobana film two years ago.
Another Mammootty film ready to go for shooting set is the one directed by Shaji Kailas. The pooja of the same took place at Ottappalam. It has Suresh Gopi and Soundarya also in the lead. B. Unni krishnan writes this.

Mammootty 'SEETHARAMA IYER VS SEETHARAMA IYER'.

K Madhu is attempting a third film to complete a series with his just announced 'SEETHARAMA IYER VS SEETHARAMA IYER'. The super hit film of Mammootty, 'ORU CBI DIARYKKURIPPU' was the first of the series. The second one was 'JAGRATHA'. S.N. Swamy has written the script for the third film also. Apart from Mammootty the film will have Jagathy and Mukesh in the cast.

Father and at the Mike

Son tried to excel his father in acting, and now in singing also. Actor Jayaram and son Kalidas acting in 'ENTE VEEDU. APPUVINTEYUM' has rendered a song in it. Gireesh Puthanchery writes a folk song 'Thappo Thappo Thattumpurathoru Kunhanelikkunju' and Ouseppachan renders the music. This is the second time Jayaram and Kalidas are acting as father and son in a film. The first film was KOCHU KOCHU SANTHOSHANGAL. ENTE VEEDU APPUVINTEYUM has Jyothirmayi as the heroine. A play back singer arrives.

A song about the river is riverberating in the studio. The recording of the song passed without any hitch though the singer was rendering his voice for the first time. It was Priyadarsan's film 'ORU KILICHUNDAN MAMBAZHAM'. Guess who the singer is! Do not bother.
It is Vineeth, the son of the actor Sreenivasan. It was a promise from Priyadarsan. Priyadarsan once promised Vineeth that he would give chance to him and until then he should not sing in any other film. It was when Vineeth won a prize in All kerala School Arts festival three years ago.
Mohanlal called Vineeth and congratulated him on hearing the song. A mechanical Engineering student in Chennai Vineeth would continue his pass time if he gets more chances. He wants to stick to singing. Acting is not in his agenda at present.

KANNINUM KANNADIKKUM

Sunder Das has completed 'KADHA' and has embarked on his new film 'KANNINUM KANNADIKKUM'. Haridas Karivelloor writes the script. It has Kalabhavan Mani as the main actor. Jagathy, Janardhanan, Siddique, Oduvil, Sudheesh, Mohini, Kaveri, are the other artists.

16 projects in January

A total of 16 films were registered with titles with the kerala film chamber of commerce in January 2003. This is definitely a positive sign as far as the Malayalam film industry is concerned. These include MIZHI RANDILUM, AMMATHOTTIL, PRABALAN, KUTHIRAPPAVAN, DEEPANGAL SAAKSHI, KOCHU KILICHUNDAN MAMPZHAM, PADOM ONNU ORU VILAPAM, UTHARA, SAKSHI, VARUM VARUNNU, ORU MUZHAM MUNPE, SINKARIMELAM, CHOONDA, ARIMBARA, KARYASTHAN CONSTABLE, SILENCE A SILENT MOVIE and VIGATHAKUMARAN.
