Will the young generation and the campus world promote Madhavan in Malayalam films? Madhavan is liked by these groups in Kerala through the Maniratnam film. Now when Madhavan comes to Malayalam through
Pramadavanam directed by Rajesh Narayanan one hope the present Malayalam cine style itself is changed to a metropolitan nature. What attracted the youngsters to Madhavan films is the swiftness and freshness in visuals, dramatic moments between the hero and heroine. Madhavan is cast opposite Soundarya and five new girls are introduced also. B S Mini writes the script for
Pramadavanam. S Ramesan Nair has penned the lyrics. Music is by Natesh Sankar.
Minnal (lightening) Sibi Malayil has almost forgotten his past. He thinks only of success now and he gets it. With second rung artists, plain stories and down to earth titles Sibi is marching forward.
He was particular about the literary quality of scripts that he was shooting once. He took up either literary works or made the writers bring in literary touch to the scripts he shoots. His favorite writer was Lohita Das. He was comfortable with serious subjects. He added it with right amount of sentiments. The only exception was
Akasadoothu, which was a sob story to the core.
The tension in handling such subjects were high that he once said that he no longer could go through it. He was silent for a brief period. When he came back he made it a point to make light films like
Ishtam,
Aayirathil Oruvan.
He has announced his next film
Minnal in which he has decided to cast Biju Menon as the hero. Geethu Mohan Das will be the heroine. Paul Brothers are to write the script for
Minnal. The cast includes Murali, Babu Antony, Kalabhavan Mani, Thilakan, Kalpana, lalitha, harisree Asokan, N F Vargheese, Paravoor Bharathan. Sachidanadan Puzhankara writes the lyrics and Johnson scores the music. This is scheduled to go on shooting floor on May 25th.
Chery (Slum) Jagathy in Main role Jagathy Sreekumar is the only actor in demand in Malayalam films now. This is so for the last two decades. We heard that he had been 'kidnapped' by some production executives from airports or railway stations. Invariably two to three production executives were be waiting for him at the airport. He is so tired and sleepy that he did not bother to ask which location he really needed to attend. The mightiest of them got him. He just got in to the car he is shown. The others chase him. Every body wants him and he gives dates to all. Jagathy has given his dates to Soya Productions and the lead role is offered to him.
Chery (slum) is the name of the project which is being directed by Sivachandran. Aarathy is the heroine and Vani Viswanath is handling another important role. Other artists are Devan, Nazar, Mamukkoya, Indrans.
Jagathy has been selected for the role of a cobbler in another film named
Yatramazha which will be shot at Ernakulam. Baiju directs this film.
