Kalyani Amma has just turned 80. Age has not changed her old habits. In fact she has become impossible than ever. She has troubled every person she comes across in her life. Relatives are fed up with her. The family members have unanimously decided to employ a home nurse to take care of her.

That's how Usha comes to that house. But Kalyani Amma insists that her children and grand children do their duties. She begins her fight with the home nurse. Usha on the other hand never forgets her professional responsibilities. It is her bread. Usha loses her father and mother and has only a brother Ayyappan from whom she wants to get away. He demands money from her. Betting is his pastime. Slowly the adamant grandmother changes her rude attitude towards Usha. She gets an idea. Usha could be a good bride for her grandson Gopi Kuttan.

She announces her intention at a family gathering. The reactions from the family members are not favorable. This is the first time grandmother's words are disobeyed. And it leads to a lot of trouble in the family.

Merry Makers Films brings out a family drama directed by Sunil with K P A C Laitha and Athira in the lead roles as the grandmother and Usha respectively.

Jagadeesh as Gopi Kuttan had an adversary in Ayyappan presented by Tony an upcoming TV and film artist. Jagathy, Mala, Jose Pellisery, are the other artists in Grand Mother. Sarjulan has written the script for the film. A new music director is being introduced in this film. Lyrics are by Ramachandra Menon and Music by Xavier. Ranjini Menon and Vidhu Pratap are the play back singers.
