Hunch back of Ramangiri


Dilip Here comes a modern fairy tale of an ugly hunchback who loved a blind street girl. Dileep continues to bag all the roles of the times like the small time village thief, mime artist, the high profile Romeo, the poor young man who is the sole bread earner of the family, and so on.

The latest is the role of a hunchback. The project was abandoned a year ago but it is revived now. Director Sasisankar has started this film in Thodupuzha and its surroundings. There are two pairs of lovers in this film named Kunhikkoonan.

The story revolves round a hunch back Kunhan and his lover, a blind girl and a pair of college students, Prasad and Lakshmi.

Dileep portrays as a hunchback and the student.

Ramangiri is a remote village.

A small village in the high ranges, Ramangiri has a small junction, the meeting place of the villagers. The junction is crowded by a few petty shops, a teashop, St Thomas Lights and sounds a shop, which rents lights, amplifiers and music cassettes. To make it modern Ramangiri junction has a new addition. A distance telephone call booth. Kunhan being a handicapped person runs the telephone booth. He is dear to the villagers. The owner of the lights and sounds Thoma is very close to Kunhan.

A small time circus troupe comes to the village one day and Kunhan discovers a beautiful girl Chempakam in the troupe. She is blind. Her father dies while performing and Kunhan comes forward to protect the blind girl. She started working in the telephone booth. They liked each other.

In the mean while Prasad had losses Lakshmi in an accident. The accident affects the life of Kunhan and Chempakam more than Prasad.
The story takes off from this point to a beautifully conceived level by Sasisankar. Navya Nair acts as Lakshmi and the blind girl is presented by a new actress.

Nedumudi venu, Cochin Haneefa, Salim Kumar, Bindu Panikkar are the other important actors in Kunhikkoonan.

Dileep has become synonym of box office success in Malayalam though a lot of new actors have entered the scene for the last three months.

Kunhikkoonan is considered as a landmark film for Dileep.
