She was the girl who was murdered in her very first film! She is Shilpa Shetty and she began her career with Abbas-Mustan's Baazigar , also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Today she stands tall in an industry where she has completed nearly a decade. We caught up with this actress who was shooting for David Dhawan's Chor Machaaye Shor .

How is the life after the success of Dhadkan ?
Good! I now have a "renewed" confidence within me. Today people treat me as not just a glamorous heroine but as a consummate actress thanks to the performance Dharmesh Darshan extracted out of me in Dhadkan .

You haven't had a single release after Dhadkan ?
(Smiles) Actually, at the time when I was doing Dhadkan , I didn't have any other film in my hand. Today, I have been doing 8-10 films, all of which started off after the release of Dhadkan .

Why didn't you sign any films while doing Dhadkan ?
I was sure about the prospect of Dhadkan , which is why I was waiting for its release.

What if the film had bombed at the box-office?
Still…I was sure people would recognize me and will definitely appreciate my performance. In short, I was very confident about the project. In any case, if the project is good, people will definitely appreciate it.

So how do you feel now?
I feel like I am a new face (laughs).

Some time back people literally termed you as an item song actress?
I know I was literally dubbed as an item actress because I was doing song and dance numbers like Main Aai Hoon U.P. Bihar Lootne (Shool)   and Dupatte Ka Pallu (Tarkieb)  . However, I would say that there are more actress who have done this kind of item song more than me. But, today the scenario has changed (smiles). People know I am an actress.

Tell us something about this project, which you are doing with David Dhawan, Chor Machaay Shor ?
This is for the first time that I am working with Bobby and David Dhawan. It is really fun working with both of them. This film can be termed as "total entertainment"!

But there's hardly any acting scope for an actress in a David Dhawan's film?
I am aware of this fact but this film is an exception (laughs). I have got a very good role in the film and I can definitely assure you that I am not in this film merely for the dance and few sequences.

You are also doing one film with Indra Kumar?
Yes! The film also stars Anil Kapoor. This is for the first time that I will be working with Indra Kumar and I am looking forward to it.

Tell us something about your next release Indian ?
Well, this will be my first release after Dhadkan  and I am looking forward for it. I am playing a house-wife (laughs loudly) in the film. My role is quite etched and I have been presented very well in this film.

There are rumors that your film with Salman Khan, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi  has been stalled?
It is just a rumor. I don't know who spreads this kind of rumor. The film is very much on in fact I just shot for it!

Lastly, which films are you working on right now?
I am doing one film with Anil Kapoor Badhai Ho Badhai , directed by Satish Kaushik. I have been pitted together with Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty in Karz-The Burden of the truth , to be directed by Harry Baweja. In Junoon , I am opposite Chandrachur Singh and I am playing a psychic character in it. I am also doing one film for Venus and there are many more projects in the pipeline (smiles).
