If Nirupa was the 'Maa' of Indian cinema, Amitabh too has outrun the 'daddy dearest' roles. Hmm...how we wish filmmakers realised that too. But the talent tower that Amitabh is; we can bet that the Sheheshah will draw yet another shade to his 'Papa' role in buddy, Romesh's, Dil Jo Bhi Kahey. Read to know if he thinks alike...

Amitabh BachchanWhat kind of film is Dil Jo Bhi Kahey and what's your role like?
I play the role of a father, Karan is my son and Revathy enacts the role of my wife. The film revolves around an Indian family based in Mauritius. This family was one among the many Indian families that were brought to Mauritius by the British to work in sugar-cane fields. Now, the members of the family are Mauritian citizens.

Karan is sent to Europe for his education where he falls in love with an English girl and wishes to get married to her. On one side there are his parents who view the British as slave traders and on the other there is their son who wants to bring in a British woman into their family. Then starts a journey into the conventions of the family, their way of thinking, their moral and cultural values and how they go about tackling the issue.

You have worked with Romesh Sharma earlier in Hum. How are your relations with him?
We have been friends for a long time and our relations are very good. His son (also the hero of the film) was born in front of me. There is a lot of nostalgia and emotions attached to this film. He is a professional producer and when he asked me to play this role, I agreed.

This film is a remake of Romesh Sharma's French serial 'CEST LA VIE'. Have you seen the original?
No, I haven't seen it as I don't know French.

How was it working with Karan- the hero of the film?
As I said he was born in front of me. He is a young lad who has done exceptionally well in the film considering that it is his debut. He was also in the original French serial. I wish him all the very best.

How do you rate the music of the film?
The music is very smart and tuneful. Music directors Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have done a really great job. When you hear their melodies you will come to know whether I'm telling you the truth or not.

A lot of family-based films are setting the trend now-a-days. What is your say on this?
Family is life. We are all part of a family. How can you get rid of it? This is not a trend. Everybody is free to make whatever they want.
