Amrita Arora up, close and personal

By Pradeep Kashyap

Amrita Arora Amrita Arora does not need any introduction. She has been a very popular VJ for MTV and she also known as Malaika Arora's sister. Her debut film, Kitne Door Kitne Paas  is complete and is scheduled to release early next year. We met Amrita on the sets of Kitne Door Kitne Paas .

Excerpts from the interview:

Did you want to be an actress?
Yeah! I always had a dream of becoming an actress and today I am (smiles).

So, don't you think you wasted a couple of years on TV?
I don't think so. I did get offers for different films but none of them were up to the mark. In any case, my role as model on MTV is definitely helping me a lot.

So do you think that Kitne Door Kitne Paas  is the best debut vehicle for you?
Yeah! I definitely feel so. My role is a perfect one for a newcomer. There is much more for me in the film apart from songs and romantic scenes.

How did this project happen?
Well, I use to anchor lot of film-based shows for MTV and one day Mehulji happened to see one of my programs. He liked me very much and thought that I would be the perfect choice for this character, Karishma. We met the very next day and I was signed for this project.

So what kind of feedback are you getting now that the promos of your film is currently running on all the leading satellite channels?
The response is very much positive. Moreover, I am really very much excited by the idea of watching myself on the screen as an actress.

Your film is getting close to the release date, so how is the feeling?
I am really very much anxious as well as excited. I am indeed a little tensed about the acceptance from the audience. See, I have put in lots of effort in my character, let's see. But I definitely have a lot of confidence in my performance.

Tell us something about your character in the film?
My character, Karishma is a Gujarati girl who is brought up in America. Despite the fact that I have completed my education in America, I am a pure Indian by heart. It is a very interesting character.

Tell us something about the film?
Well, the movie has a very beautiful story, which is based on destiny. If you are destined to meet someone, nothing can stop you. The movie is all about how this boy and girl meet each other and what happens to them.

How has it been working with Fardeen?
The first scene, which we gave together, was an intimate scene and there were many retakes. I was very nervous. But Fardeen was very cool and co-operative, he was patient enough and said that it's ok and we will do this particular scene after some day. He has been an excellent co-star and he always advises me and makes me feel at ease.

Tell us something about your forthcoming films?
I am doing Awara Paagal Deewana  opposite Aftab Shivdasani, Padmalaya's next venture with Tusshar Kapoor. I am also doing Salman Khan's home production.

Lastly, who has been your biggest inspiration?
Madhuri Dixit, without doubt.
