Interview with Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu Few people get instant recognition as Bipasha Basu had. This model turned actress wooed the Indian male audience with her sultry looks and with her dare to bare attitude. And like in her screen presence, she is carefree girl off the screen too. But this attitude set back when a group of fans mauled her in Jaipur. She has now guards to protect her. Bipasha Basu, wearing an ethnic wear and a shawl that covered everything, gave an interview to Indiainfo correspondent in Hyderabad recently. Excerpts from the interview.

In a cutthroat competitive field you made it big so easily. How do you feel this instant recognition?

Hey, don't come to conclusion that my road to fame is filled with roses. Before entering into filmdom, I had been working hard in modeling, all the time honing acting skills. Compared to other girls, mine is a bit easy. But here only hard work pays.

People say that after Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi, Bollywood has at last found Sexy starlet in you. Your comment?

It is honor that I am being compared with such a great beauties. But I am not comfortable with being categorized. I am not mere flesh and bones baby.

But in all the films you had acted in, you are just a femme fatale!

May be. Though I don't have any qualms with that, I want to say that I too can act.

Is it necessary to expose overtly?

This is high time to grow from old set up of values. In the real world, things have changed tremendously. But only Bollywood people are languishing in the old values.

Tell us about Jaipur incident

A bunch of people wanted to touch me in real. But these guys went crazy and mauled me. I was shaken with the incident. I wasn't ready for it.

We heard that you cried at that moment...

Yeah. I did. I knew I am strong woman but this sudden attack scared me. I can't deal with a mob. In Mumbai, even now I can go on myself. It is only now that I find in other cities women are not that much safe.

In JISM, you have done overtly flesh exposing and steamy sequences. Do you believe in lust than love?

Yes. Body doesn't know love. Love starts with attraction. To be precisely with lust.
