The answer: His wife's murder!
Nah, Mahila mandal women, please put down those belans! It is the RGV film, My Wife's Murder that has got the famous moustached movie-star to go ga-ga!
Anil Kapoor tells you why...
Super excited about My Wife's Murder...
It isn't like I am any less excited about other films. Infact I don't take on films that don't get me screaming. I don't believe in doing work with a half-hearted approach to it. If you have followed my career closely, you would have noticed that when I pick up a role, I sink my teeth into it completely. But then there comes along one such film where it earns itself an 'Extra special' tag. And My Wife's Murder deserves this pedestal more than anything else.
"I would have regretted not doing this film!"
"It's out of the ordinary; I would have certainly regretted not doing this film!" Anil confesses right off. "In my 25 year career, if I were to shortlist films that have redefined my space and living, then My Wife's Muder will bag the prime spot!" he raves. "Yes when it came to me, I did toss it away but today I am only too happy that I saw sense in time and did the film. Because when I look back, the film is among the best works I have done.
Why did he refuse it in the first place?
See when a 21 year boy comes to you with a script, it is only natural that you get skeptical about it. Likewise, I wasn't too sure whether he could pull it off. But the moment he pinned me down for a narration, I was hooked. I got fantastic reactions from people whom I read out the script too. That was it. I decided I wanted to do the film for sure. Besides, Ramu even offered me partnership for the film. I couldn't have been luckier. I had a career-best role, my remuneration and 50% partnership in the film. There was nothing more to think, maine kaha, ise toh jhapat lo bhaiyya!
"Aap mujhe aakar joothe mar sakte ho!"
The film is also the biggest movie I have done. No, we are not talking budget here, My Wife's Murder is a small budget film but it is 'Big' on content, performances, script and idea. I can confidently say that the film rates higher than most of the 'biggest' films that Bollywood has produced in the recent years. And if you don't agree with me, aap mujhe aakar joothe maar sakte hain!
