For one who began her film career with Prem , which took at least half decade to come on to the screen, and finally when it did release, the film bombed at the box-office.

But, little did one realize at that point of time that the film incidentally would give the industry one of the most talented actress of today-Tabu. After PREM , flopped, she went down south to try her luck.

But lady luck had another plans. Though she was appreciated, she strode back into Bollywood with Gulzar's Maachis , which fetched her first National Award. That seemed to be just the beginning. The talented actress Tabu never looked back after that.

Likewise, critics also appreciated her for doing something different. She went on to do Govind Nihalani's Takshak , Gulzar's Hu Tu Tu , Priyadarshan's Virasat  and the unforgettable performance in Astitva . She even went on to star in comedy films like Saajan Chale Sasural  and Biwi No. 1 , in which she was very well appreciated.

Each of these films showcased Tabu's hidden talent one after the other till a point of time when films got made keeping Tabu in mind. The latest in her kitty is yet to be released Chandni Bar , to be released on Sept. 28.

Chandni Bar  is all about a woman from a village who by chance lands up into one of the Mumbai's bar. She gets employed as a bar-girl (Mumtaz as she is called) and marries a gang leader. The film beautifully encapsulates the role of a village woman from a naïve sensitive woman to a bar girl who finally ends up being a gang leader's wife.

Tabu, the actress has come a long way. For her, Chandni Bar will be just another film where she will leave her charismatic stamp.
