Last week, Bonik Travel Agency filed a cheque-bounce case against Sunny Deol, after which a local court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the actor.
Bonik Travel Agency is owned by producer Vicky Kumar's uncle; Vicky was the presenter of one of Sunny's films, Lakeer.
In an emotional interview, Sunny refutes the allegations against him...
Sunny's rebuttal
"I am not a cheat. The truth is that I am actually owed money, but it has been made out to be as if I owe them money. It was an error from my office and things went awry.
I am trying to clean up my office mess now; hopefully, in a couple of months, it will be sorted out. I could have stopped the film from releasing on account of not receiving payments, but I let go of it. If I had known things were going to happen, the petition would never have arrived."
Pleading my case
"I am not a person who likes to clarify things. I know the people who love me, know me for what I am; they don't need to hear it from me. It's just that I am getting tired of people who blackmail me and take advantage of me. The matter is being sorted out. Knowing that we are already in trouble, they will still harass us. Friends and friendships don't exist in this industry. People just want to take advantage of you; you have to be careful about what you do."
Financial problems
I won't deny that my production company, Vijeta Films, has been facing financial problems. I am sorting out the matter with the people to whom I owe money. But there are certain people who I owe nothing, but who are trying to get extra mileage out of me. Ek adha kameena nikalta hai.
It's show time, folks
Sunny will soon leave for shows in the US and Canada with brother Bobby. "I love doing shows abroad because that's a way of connecting with your fans there, and they get to know more of you. I didn't do too many shows because you have to dance - and that's not my forte. The other reason is my bad back; for the last two years I haven't been able to work out because of it."
Deol triumvirate
I am working with Bobby and dad (Dharmendra) for Anil Sharma's Apne. "It was my dream to make a film under our banner with the three of us, but I don't want to start something new and create another mess.... Apne is a very emotional film.
