 Gone are the days when marriage was considered an everlasting bond of love and togetherness. The term 'forever' seems to be a lost word, and more so in Bollywood. A lot is expected from a Hindi film star, with every little child dancing to the tunes of their favourite star. From hairstyles to mannerisms, every single detail is watched and incorporated by the ardent fans. Thus, one can only imagine the pressure of this high profile life that these Bollywood stars have to cope with. Constantly being in the media spotlight and getting attention from every nook and corner, many of the so-called 'happily married' Bollywood stars are going the 'divorce' way. 

When Babita walked out on Randhir Kapoor with her two daughters (Karisma and Kareena) and started living separately, the Kapoor family was shocked. Nobody in the family had dared to take such a step. That was a bold decision at the time. However, Bollywood has come a long way since then.

With simmering problems between Saif Ali Khan and wife Amrita, Saif decided to walk out of his bungalow in Mumbai to a rented apartment. The actor is cited to have said that he is not in love with Amrita anymore. In the past, he's allegedly been linked to filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and actress Smriti Mishra.

 The same happened with Actor Aamir Khan. He and Reena Datta who met each other through common friends, married against family consent. After being wedded for twenty years, Aamir finally filed for a formal divorce. In fact, the rumour is that he has secretly married Kiran Rao, assistant to director Ashutosh Gowariker on Swadesh. Well, of course not all Bollywood marriages end in splitsvile.

Some of the examples of a long wedded relationship include Dev Anand and Kalpana Kartik (married for 50 years), Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu (38 years), Sunil Dutt-Nargis (24 years, till the untimely death of Nargis). Mega star Amitabh Bachchan has been married to Jaya Bachchan for over 31 years. Though there was news flashed around in every newspaper about Amitabh's relationship with Rekha, he still did not walk out of his marriage. Amongst the new couples, there is Shah Rukh Khan-Gauri, Ajay Devgan-Kajol, and Akshay Kumar-Twinkle Khanna.

So, one tends to wonder what does life has in store for the most talked about Bollywood couples Shahid Kapur-Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai-Vivek Oberoi? Will we see a union take place between them and will they join the league of 'forever'? Needs to be seen.
