If all of India's attention is centred upon something then nine out of ten it's on Karishma's wedding. Bollywood's ZUBEIDA is
going to get married on September 29, 2003 to her childhood friend a Delhi- based businessman Sanjay Kapur. With India's most happening clan eldest daughter of actor Randhir Kapoor getting married there are big arrangements made in advance all planned two months ago. Ironically it took Karishma ten days to accept Sanjay Kapur's proposal.
The marriage is however going to be a small affair with close family members and friends. It will be a traditional Sikh affair under the presence of holy guru Granthsahib at the Deonar residence of the family. Media is of course barred from entering.
The marriage would be a one-day affair starting from 10:30 am in the morning and winding by a 'dholi' ceremony. The lunch would be sumptuous prepared Jayant Paul, executive chef of Sun'n'Sand, Mumbai. Let's give you certain scoop behind the food, which are going to be relished on the occasion.
The lunch table will have 170 food delicacies and will be of different cuisine. It starts Italian pastas, Swiss cheese, French breads, Thai curries, Chinese soups and the traditional Indian syrup-dripping malpuas and spice-laced roasted chicken. Also added to the list are blueberry cheese cake, kastoori kabab, murg shirazi, sikander rann and some exotic dishes like Shiitake mushroom frittata, stuffed chicken in tarragon sauce, smoked scarmoasa and roast lamb in black beans.
If that's not enough, there is a cheese counter that would have a dash of Gruviera, Edamball, Ementhal and other delicacies while the bread counters would have the traditional garlic bread and other relishing combinations. Guests would have the delights of pastas and salads of different colors and dressings teamed up with a cold cuts as well as a variety of sea food.
Well if that it didn't make your mouth water, then have a look at the deserts that awaits for the invited audience. For dessert,
guests would have choice from picking almond crepes, soufflés, delicious fruit tarts to sticking to the Indian all-time favourite of badam halwa and malpua to be washed down by hot capucchino. Another aspect of the food is that it would be straight from the warm fire.
Well we had enough of the talks on menu of the food, which was decided by the entire Kapoor's family for over a month. But the interesting fact is that Karishma takes an important decision like settling down in ten days. Is it just showing to the world that you get united just for a splendid moment? Has marriage for the big families been an occasion of showing off their riches? One way there is a no media intervention and the other way such food exposure. Well! Lolo's marriage is, correct me if I am wrong KARISHMA-A MIRACLE IN DESTINY.
