One major issue is serials being dragged on endlessly. Some serials are okayed for a particular number of episodes but go on for a longer period because they garner good TRPs. After a point of time this leads to viewer fatigue. But because of greed, the production houses and the channels fear to take the serials off-air. Like reality shows, fiction shows should also be shown in seasons. The makers need to have the courage to take a show off-air at the right time, give viewers a break and then bring it back after a gap.

The biggest issue is the long and erratic working hours. People don't have a personal life here because all the time they are working. Another issue is delayed payments. Though I haven't faced any problem from my producer, a lot of my friends have had issues regarding payments. The case is worse for technicians.

The biggest issue is scripts being finalised at the last moment. As an actor, it really concerns me that the industry functions in such a disorganised way. The late shoots happen because scripts don't reach the artistes on time. As a result they end up rehearsing their part late and this in turn leads to late working hours. We need to finalise the course of the story of the show well in advance so that artistes are able to manage their time more effectively.

The major issue in the TV industry is of time management. At times, scenes are wrapped up really fast to meet deadlines. This hampers the creative process. The industry needs to be more organised and it should be made sure that there is a good bank of episodes before any show goes on air.

The lack of unity among actors needs to be addressed urgently. Anybody comes and agrees to work on absurdly low rates just to get into the industry. At times, they even work for free. We need to have a proper entry system and minimum payment regulation which can be done if we form a TV actors guild.

Our industry is no longer about creativity. It's all about business. Just a handful of actors care for the art and the characters they play. We need to go by the Hollywood way where all shows come in seasons.
