Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra, who was again down with a severe stomach infection that had caused her hospitalisation a couple of months back, admits to DNA that she did not take proper care to regain her health before standing in front of the camera again and that her outdoor trips for IIFA and her forthcoming film Pyaar Impossible made the situation worse as it threw her diet chart out of the window.
Piggy Chops is now on a complete home food diet and was on drips over the weekend.
"I have been dealing with a severe gastro infection, for which I was hospitalised over a month ago. I was advised by the doctors to eat only home-cooked food. I tried to do as they said but with my current schedule, it sometimes gets very difficult to eat at the appropriate time," she told us.
Priyanka adds, "I did not get much time to recover and give my body the time to recover, since I've been shooting back to back. Also, I have been in Bangkok and Singapore (and Macau) for an outdoor schedule of my next film over the past one month and have not been able to maintain my prescribed diet. I guess that all came together and I ended up with this relapse."
Priyanka was to fly to Shanghai for the Shanghai Film Festival where she was to be honoured, but the relapse happened and she had to cancel her trip. But much to the relief of five film-makers who have signed Priyanka in their films she told us that her current health situation won't throw her shooting schedule out of gear.
"Because I had to cancel my trip to Shanghai for the awards, I got two days to recover (Saturday and Sunday). I rested completely at home. I am back at work but I've been told not to overdo it," says Priyanka, who has her parents beside her all the time.
It has been a very eventful year for Piggy. While on one hand she has bagged numerous Best Actress awards, on the other people have drooled over her curves and body. Has setting a high benchmark for herself added more to her stress and physical exhaustion?
"I try not to let it affect me. I know that the movie-going audience who buy tickets to watch my films go in with certain expectations, and I have always seen that as a responsibility that I need to live up to. There are never any excuses in show business," she ends.
